Public Space in the Suburbs

2008 onwards

A recent action was a public forum on 'Public space in the Suburbs', which responded to the continuing gentrification of the downtown area and the consequent displacing of migrant groups to the suburbs. Based in the East Scarborough suburb of Toronto, the forum discussed the many issues raised by this situation such as the provision of public space, space for youth and the problems around precarious work, as well as celebrating the diverse population of that area.
